Paralegal Program

Reeves College’s 65-week Paralegal diploma program trains students in the administrative and extensive legal skills they need to excel in a law office. Students learn computer, keyboarding, and communication skills. They also gain an in-depth understanding of the Canadian court system, laws, and legal rights. Students become proficient at handling legal evidence and filing legal documentation.

Here is what the Business Administration Management program instructor Bruce O has to say about his experience at Reeves College: “I started teaching Accounting, part-time, at a community college in 1989. Then in 2001, I went over to Korea to teach English as a Second Language for a total of about 2 years. Over the past 12 years I have taught ESL, Accounting, Business and computer courses in a number of countries in Europe and Asia. I enjoy working with people and watching them mature and grow over the program period. Teaching accounting came easily to me as I have a CMA certification and many years of experience in the field. I became a certified ESL instructor to pursue my passion for travel. I am able to learn so much more living and working in different countries, meeting the people and interacting with the students than just a 2 week vacation. I inspire my students by involving the students in the learning process. I am always asking open-ended, leading questions to promote discussion, and to encourage students to provide examples from their lives that reflect and support the course material. I use humor often in class, as I see humor as an important part of keeping the students engages and interested in the course material. Teaching is therapeutic for me. When I am listening to questions and encouraging discussion, all my focus and energy is on the students, and I cannot daydream, or be stressed about other issues. At the end of a class my mind is clear and fresh, and I am ready to get on with my life.”

Breast Cancer Awareness Month with Reeves College in Edmonton, AB on October 19, 2013

On October 19, 2013 Reeves College ladies Alia, Daphnee and Julie participated at the Breast Cancer Awareness event at Inglewood Safeway on St Albert Trail in Edmonton, AB. They handed out Breast Cancer Awareness booklets and pink ribbons, as well as, they had customers fill out ‘pink ladies’ which are the sticky notes stuck to the front of the table. Each ‘pink lady’ had a name of the customer written in honor of a person they know who has battle with breast cancer. Donations were taken at the tills.
